Jeff's Reviews

Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

One Eight Seven (1997)

Directed by Kevin Reynolds

Starring Samuel L. Jackson, John Heard, Kelly Rowan, Clifton Collins Jr.

Not well-done. Sloppy directing. It’s been downhill for Reynolds since The Beast.

Nice twist at the end. Although the scene is admittedly copied from the Deer Hunter, it is pretty dramatic.

Very simple characters. Jackson is OK. Kind of suprised he toook the role. What gives him the drive to teach? That hot blonde teacher is totally unrealistic. How/why would a girl like that be teaching in a place like that? Bad dialogue.

Not much substance but a lot of style. Some nice camera tricks with stylish filters and slo-mo. Once again, the fixed security camera magically flies around the room to get the dramatic shot and edits for the dramatic moment.
