The Crow (1994)

I was disappointed with this movie. After hearing the reviews of how great this movie was and expecting something special from all the hoopla surrounding Brandon Lee’s death during filming (which probably was the wrong thing to do), I was left with only a feeling of partial satisfaction. Edward Scissorhands…

Ed Wood (1994)

Another good collaboration between Burton and Depp. A bit long, not enough of a significant story, just a bio of a kooky character. Very well-made, as are all Burton films. All his films are very similar in style, making him a true auteur. A whimsical but carefully structured story with…

The Endless Summer 2 (1994)

A great follow-up to the original. Ties together with it very nicely. A great story, with real drama and real comedy. Looks like they had a fantastic trip. Well-made. Very natural and playful, especially with the fast/slow motion and sound effects. It’s amazing how natural the two surfers and everyone…

Forrest Gump (1994)

A really cute movie about a lovable retard who likes to run. It was a performance well done by Hanks within a simple, magnetic plot. I thought the war scenes were unbelievable. The realism and drama along with the twist of a dumb soldier really provided some interesting entertainment. Based…

Guarding Tess (1994)

A few funny moments, but a little slow. Cage should definitely stick to comedy.

I mean, this movie is more like a documentary about diversity than it is a narrative about relationships. Although…

Hoop Dreams (1994)

Interesting in-depth look over the period of a few years, but it drags a bit. The most amazing thing about the film is how natural and uninhibited everyone is with a camera in their face. The camera just never seemed to intrude. Great camerawork. I guess they probably shot with…

The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)

Kind of a fantasy and satire of capitalism, just like Brazil or Metropolis. A super-exaggeration of a capitalist society and working world. Overall, a bit too surreal for me, almost a spoof. The satire goes overboard. A rags-to-riches-to-rags-to riches story. Good story, but I’m sure I’ve seen the same storyline…

Il Postino: The Postman (1994)

Nice Italian flavor and story about the death of a beloved older, wiser friend, as in Cinema Paradiso. Pretty touching. That main character was definitely goofily charming. Perhaps a bit slow at times.
