Foxx is good. His speech, mannerisms, and performances are all spot on.
Not bad. Some of the plot points feel a bit rushed and forced. But the bigger problem is that the story doesn’t seem personal enough. Part of the problem, I think, is that Charles never really seems happy. He bounces around a bit, nervously mumbling at more or less the same tone, throughout the movie. And the tragedy really isn’t tragic enough. With no highs or lows, we’re left with a character and a story that feels a bit flat.
