Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

The Blues Brothers (1980)

Directed by John Landis

Starring John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Cab Calloway, John Candy

Author

Aykroyd and Belushi aren’t terribly cool or funny. This movie is really just an excuse to get some cool performers together for some jamming. Brown, Hooker, and Charles turn in good performances. But while Franklin’s acting is good, her lip-synced performance is awful.

The comedy and timing is a bit awkward. It’s almost like comedies of this time period were all about experimentation.

Lots of good car crashes.

Didn’t understand the final shots. Were the cops coming to kill them all?
