The Smiling Madame Beudet (1923)

Directed by Germaine Dulac

Starring Germaine Dermoz, Alexandre Arquillière, Jean d'Yd, Yvette Grisier

Without sound, most films of this period are pretty boring, especially if it didn’t have a great story, comedy, or special effects. This was no exception. I have no idea what it was about and I don’t care, either. Why did they use irising so much for cuts and sometimes even entire scenes?
