Slow. Not too much of a story, hardly any conflict. Throwing morals out the window in a vengeant fury is a rather unconventional resolution.
Comedy is unfunny and overdone. The horse-falling gets old. The cowboy who can’t see is good for a few laughs, but that’s it. Nice Lethal Weapon/Malcolm X “I don’t know if the gun is loaded, so I’ll shoot it and see” scene.
Nice photography, but wasted. A few unnecessary close-ups and painful cuts from really dark scenes to blinding bright scenes. I hate that.
Hate to say it because he’s so revered, but Eastwood’s not the greatest actor. His performances are plain and superficial.
