Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Vertigo (1958)

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock

Starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, Barbara Bel Geddes, Tom Helmore

Author

I like Jimmy Stewart. It is interesting how he makes the transition from cool-headed dork in black and white films (Jefferson Smith Goes to Washington) to hot-headed stud in the color Vertigo. It was interesting seeing him in color. It seemed like it was a black and white movie, only it was in color. There was an interesting clash of oldness and modernism. The film is a bit slow, and much like Witness for the Prosecution, it reaches its glamorous potential with the discovery of truth in the final few minutes of screen time.

There is some cheesy animation sequences (which is actually not bad for a non-Disney 1958 film). The musical score is great.
