Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

A Beautiful Mind (2001)

Directed by Ron Howard

Starring Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Christopher Plummer

Author

A mildly touching portrait of a freak, like Rain Man. Probably Howard’s best. He’s just so sterile sometimes. Lots of clicheed acting and dialogue. Friends, lovers, and adversaries are all cookie-cutter characters.

Crowe mumbles. Is it the character, or is it him? Either way, it’s a bit annoying. He’s quirky in this role, I could have seen Mel Gibson doing it. Great aging make-up. Connelly is very cute.

Not sure how a character as weird as Nash could end up with someone as good-looking and normal as his wife. I wold have liked to see more of what led up to the marriage. That would have given us a better look at Nash as a real person.
