Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

A Bridge Too Far (1977)

Directed by Richard Attenborough

Starring Siem Vroom, Marlies van Alcmaer, Erik van 't Wout, Wolfgang Preiss

Author

A truly impressive cast, seems like every scene has a famous face in it. Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Gene Hackman, Robert Redford, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Richard Attenborough, Maximilian Schell, Ryan O’Neal, Denholm Elliott, James Caan, Liv Ullmann, Elliott Gould. Granted, the list is a lot more impressive now that all of these actors went on to have successful careers, but has any movie ever had this many stars in it?

Lots of action, but aside from the explosions and gunfire, it’s not all that dramatic because the characters and relationships between them aren’t that deep. Heavy use of place name captions is perhaps evidence that the story isn’t told cleanly enough to stand on its own.
