Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

A League of their Own (1992)

Directed by Penny Marshall

Starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Madonna

Author

A well-made time piece. It really transports you gives you a sense of history. A touching story with some great comedy, especially by Hanks and Lovitz. The baseball footage is shot pretty badly, though (all close-ups, like The Fan).

Geena is pretty good, Petty is great. One of Madonna’s better, less egotistical performances. The casting for older women was amazingly believable, so good in fact that I thought it was just the younger women with make-up to make them look older when it was really different actresses. The kid with the pinwheel on bus also makes an appearance in Planes, Traines and Automobiles.
