Jeff's Reviews

Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Baraka (1992)

Directed by Ron Fricke

Starring Patrick Disanto

Author

A brave, unflinching, meditative portrait of the world. Definitely chill, but you get into it after a bit. Was there supposed to be a message from the order in which the images were shown?

A definite focus on old culture, mostly Asian. Was this intentional, given they make up the highest % of the world population? Europeans and Africans (except for a few pyramids) are hardly represented at all.

Some nice shots in there, especially the time-lapse ones. Moody, fitting music. Fricke seems like an interesting guy.
