Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Bottle Rocket (1996)

Directed by Wes Anderson

Starring Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Ned Dowd, Shea Fowler

Anderson’s first movie is a good one. Although not polished, his distinctive light, off-beat style is apparent. He doesn’t just stop to recognize the awkward moments, he manufactures them.

Not a great performance for the Wilson brothers, but a good debut. I’m glad they had the chance (mostly thanks to Anderson) to continue making movies and finally show everyone what a great team they are. Luke could have a wonderful future as a dramatic actor, and Owen, with his nose that looks like a penis, in comedy. Nice to see Cavazos again.

It’s really cool how Anderson uses the same core of actors to play almost identical characters in each of his movies. Has that ever been done before?
