Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Caddyshack (1980)

Directed by Harold Ramis

Starring Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray, Ted Knight

Author

Not too funny. Chevy provides the best humor, while the rest is just goofy early 80’s comedy. Chevy has some really awkward moments where his humor really doesn’t work. The drunk golfer idea is oddly familiar (Tin Cup). I don’t think the pregnancy and gopher subplots work for this movie. One is too serious, and the other is too silly. Perhaps they should have stuck with the Chevy/Rodney humor that was the centerpiece of the film. Chevy plays his regular cool stud, with his usual one-liners (many of which are the same in some of his other movies like “I feel like a hundred dollars” and “as far as you know”), but Rodney steals the show. Murray is OK but kinda dumb at times.
