Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Chopper (2000)

Directed by Andrew Dominik

Starring Eric Bana, Simon Lyndon, David Field, Dan Wyllie

Author

An interesting story about an articulate, intelligent guy with his own brand of justice, a craving for celebrity, and a bit of an insecurity problem. But the story ended too soon. Not enough happened. A few funny moments.

It gets it’s appeal by being the biography of a real person, but I’m not sure how I feel about it as a biography when it comes out and admits to us right at the beginning that much of it has been changed and overdramatized.

Bana is fantastic. The toughest, most intense Australian I’ve ever seen. And so damn likeable, even as a psychotic.

Low budget. A few cool camera tricks (I liked the fast-motion with normal dialogue). Uncorrected colored lighting gives it a nice feel. A nice, simple score and no distracting songs.
