Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Cosmos (1980)

Starring Carl Sagan, Jaromír Hanzlík, Jonathan Fahn

Author

Not really a movie, but as a collected work, it’s magnificent.

Sagan is a bit wordy at times, and there are a few moments when he doesn’t seem genuinely interested in what he’s talking about, but he is for the most part a great speaker who infuses his subject matter with great enthusiasm.

A bit dated, some sound mixing problems, and the acting sequences could be better, but the scientific meat of the series is fascinating.

A recent IMAX release, which replaces the detail and ethics of Sagan’s work with redundant fly-bys, effects, and corny music, doesn’t compare.
