Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Fiddler on the Roof (1971)

Directed by Norman Jewison

Starring Topol, Norma Crane, Leonard Frey, Molly Picon

Author

A film about the degradation of Jewish tradition by more modern ideals. A very Jewish film. The long take with the fiddler with the title graphics was pretty cool, and so were those freeze frame and distanced conversations with himself. The whole “why is God playing bad jokes on me” thing was pretty funny. The student from Kiev looks a lot like a young De Niro, complete with the mole on his cheek.

I think Topol and Leon should do a movie together.
