Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Fistful of Dollars (1964)

Directed by Sergio Leone

Starring Clint Eastwood, Marianne Koch, Gian Maria Volonté, Wolfgang Lukschy

Author

Iconic final scene, but rest of the movie is damn boring. The slow and melodic pace, typical of Leone and his westerns, puts you right to sleep.

Lots of weird dubbing issues, which makes more sense after learning the entire dialogue track was recorded in post. What language did they speak when it was being filmed? That piccolo motif gets obnoxious after a while.

Eastwood’s an interesting anti-hero. With a better story, he’d be a lot of fun to watch.
