Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Hoosiers (1986)

Directed by David Anspaugh

Starring Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, Dennis Hopper, Sheb Wooley

Author

Nothing special. Why the title? Dumb ending. A lot of bad cuts which destroy the moods certain scenes establish. The same thing happened with the music, too. Nice 80’s synthesizer music. The blasting music in the credits was horrible. The sports footage is decent. Hopper was quirky, weird, very interesting, and did a great job. Hopper’s story was much more interesting than Hackman’s, and the different focus might have made the movie a bit better. Jimmy was an interesting character with an interesting look. How did Hackman, a man of at least 45, shack up with a young grad student. And why would Hackman intentionally get himself thrown out of an important game with the game on the line?

That “sun shining on a dog’s ass” comment appeared in another basketball movie, White Men Can’t Jump.
