Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Killing Kennedy (2013)

Directed by Nelson McCormick

Starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Michelle Trachtenberg, Rob Lowe, Will Rothhaar

Author

When making a film about historical events, there’s always the fine line between being broadly accurate and focusing on a smaller, more dramatic part of it. I’m not sure where the sweet spot is, but this one erred on the side of broad accuracy. A lot of what what is dramatized may be faithful, but the story as it’s told is disconnected and boring.

The irony is that numerous conspiracy theories make the facts as presented quite disputable. So what we are left with is a documentary based on questionable facts. Even the recreated assassination footage is conveniently distorted.

Lowe’s pretty good, Goodwin’s OK, but Trachtenberg’s accent just isn’t right.
