Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Murder on the Orient Express (2017)

Directed by Kenneth Branagh

Starring Paapa Essiedu, Yassine Zeroual, Asan N'Jie, Michael Rouse

A classic whodunnit told with modern polish and grace. Definitely a lot like Sherlock Holmes. In fact, these might be more true to the spirit of classic Sherlock Holmes than the recent films by Guy Ritchie.

Branagh’s mustache and accent were wonderful. I enjoyed the casting of familiar faces, fresh faces, and new faces for all of the other characters and I like how he directed their performances. And I love how he clearly left things open for a sequel. I wonder if this would be a fun franchise for him.

The CGI train shots are well-done, if not a touch smooth and distracting.
