Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Seven Years in Tibet (1997)

Directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud

Starring Brad Pitt, David Thewlis, BD Wong, Mako

Author

The story is jumbled and uninteresting. The only semi-emotional moment in what I thought was supposed to be an emotional movie was when he presents his child with the musicbox. Too long. If the story had been good, I might have thought differently.

Pitt uses his customary soft-spoken, indirect delivery. For some reason, his timing in this movie was absolutely awful. I don’t know if it was because he was given the freedom to ad lib or what, but he kept on running into other people’s lines and falling into lengthy silences when we needed words. The Dalai Lama kid was probably the best actor in the film, especially considering his age.

Some good photography, but who cares. I wonder if it’s even possible to take bad pictures in Tibet.
