Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Strange Days (1995)

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow

Starring Ralph Fiennes, Angela Bassett, Juliette Lewis, Tom Sizemore

Definitely influenced by James Cameron with all that blue lighting at night. It almost looks like Bladerunner city the way they shot it. I think that a few more day shots would have made it a bit more real, and not so surreal like Bladerunner was.

Cool how they did the wire trips. It would be neat to see an entire movie from that POV. That technology certainly will be implemented one way or another somewhere in the near future. But how come there are no “blinks” when they have someone record one?

Cool colors in the preview. I’m sure I’ve seen a preview or movie scene with that technique before, but I just can’t remember where. Some cool music (especially the Peter Gabriel song at the end), but the film almost relies on trendy soundtrack music a bit too much, much like The Crow did. That wide-screen TV in his apartment was awesome!

“Everything’s been tried. Where do we go from here?” Very interesting point that I have always agreed with.
