The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Directed by David Fincher

Starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Julia Ormond

Meandered a bit. He knew a tugboat captian and worked at sea for a bit, but it hardly seems like he had a life. Instead, we focus on his relationships with his girlfriends and his mother. No guy friends? He’s not a terribly redeeming character, either. He just keeps walking out on people. In the end, I was touched, despite some of these shortcomings.

Pitt was pretty good, but I think he was upstaged by Blanchett, who is simply radiant. Wonderful effects. I’m still trying to figure out how they created the very old, very small Benjamin.

Why set it during Katrina? And what’s the overall message?
