Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

The Wrong Trousers (1993)

Directed by Nick Park

Starring Peter Sallis

Author

Good, intelligent comedy. Not the in-your-face stuff you’d expect from animation. Good timing. Beautifully detailed animation. Great characters, and fantastic use of expression. Part of what makes the comedy so funny is that the expression is so realistic, not exaggerated like in most animation. This should be required viewing for any animation student.

I am coming to newfoud appreciation for animation/claymation. it really is an art form all in its own with many advantages over live film: perfect acting, perfect cinematography, and it’s much easier to create comic exaggerations of people and reality. The old Warner Brothers cartoons, “Tom and Jerry,” “The Simpsons”, and this film are the only funny animation I have seen.
