Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Toy Story (1995)

Directed by John Lasseter

Starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney

Author

The story was decent. A big budget movie about toys that come alive had to be made eventually. Very simple, obviously made for kids. It’s obviously a special effects piece rather than a story piece. The animation is neat. Human action looked a bit fake. And just like Star Wars, the cinematography was a little too perfect for my taste. Every shot had to be from a cool, new angle or make a cool, new camera movement. Enough is enough. If you have a story to tell, tell it. Don’t make us nauseous.

Hanks voice was great. He got to use some of his comedy, too. Until I looked at the credits, I thought Tim Allen was George Clooney. They have exactly the same voice. Actually, I think Clooney would have been a better choice. He’s cockier.

A lot of references to older kids movies.
