Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Twister (1996)

Directed by Jan de Bont

Starring Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes, Jami Gertz

Pretty crappy. It had a little of that Jurassic Park cheesiness/corniness in it which ruined some parts, but again this one was saved by its great special effects. It seemed as if they tried to make it for both kids and adults, which can be a costly mistake in movie-making.

It’s almost like they had too much money to spend on the special effects. For example, the introduction graphics were so cheesily overdone.

I thought I was a Bill Paxton fan, but I don’t think I am anymore. Helen Hunt was great, but Bill Paxton just seemed like he bullshitted his way through the movie. That bullshit acting method was perfect for his role as a bullshitter in True Lies, but when he has to be real (as in this movie), it can get a bit stale. Paxton is the prototypical supporting actor.
