U2: Elevation 2001 Live from Boston (2001)

Directed by Hamish Hamilton

Starring Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr.

Author

Documentary-like concert footage, with simple shots of the performers and few shots of the crowd.

Not much pizzazz. Much of the footage suffers from resolution and/or focus issues. The Bono cam is cool but hardly used. The tour’s flashy video is hardly integrated at all. The only creative license seems to be a temporary switch to black and white for no particular reason.

More aerial cable shots would have made things more dynamic. The shot between “Bad” and “Where the Streets Have No Name” is magical.

There are better U2 concert films.
