Pretty solid acting and vocal performances by Phoenix and Witherspoon, and a great supporting job by Patrick.
Unfortunately, the story doesn’t really stand up. Cash is portrayed as a tormented young man with pretty serious drug problems who takes his issues out on other people. We are never given a real reason to care for him, so why should any of the characters?
