Constantine (2005)
Effects are nice, but the story’s kinda blah. Keanu plays the chosen one again.

One of the most depressing and touching movies I have seen in a while. Indiscriminately tugs at your heartstrings like a few other movies in the 80’s, like Beaches. Fabulous cast. McLain is solid. Winger is fun, endearing, and charismatic. The demise of her character is part of what makes…

Lee draws things out a bit too much. It’s an interesting story, but it’s long and slow. Not a lot happens. Gyllenhaal’s got it. And Ledger actually can act, even if he does sound a bit like Karl from Sling Blade. Great aging make-up on the guys. Beautiful landscape photography.

Sandler and Barrymore are decent. Schneider makes my skin curl. Catchy music.

Story makes you think a bit, and the effects are actually pretty good. Overall, a lot better than I thought it was going to be, particularly because Will Smith is in it.
